Latrobe Magnesium Project

Mincore has successfully completed the EPCM works under contract for the construction of the Latrobe Magnesium 1000 tpa demonstration production plant in Hazelwood North in Victorias Latrobe Valley.
The process plant will produce magnesium metal and a cementitious material from fly ash – a waste stream from brown coal power generation. The successful operation of the plant will demonstrate and confirm LMG’s patented hydrometallurgical extraction/thermal reduction process enabling LMG to expand and develop larger production facilities in the future.
Mincore has worked with Latrobe Magnesium for a number of years from feasibility, detailed design, through to construction and commissioning of the plant. Mincore highly values the opportunity to have supported and worked with Latrobe Magnesium on development of such an important plant which is also expected to emit 53% fewer CO2 emission than major global Magnesium producers.
